Volunteers are very important because we are a non-profit organization. All the monetary donations we receive can be directly invested back into rescuing more dogs. We wouldn't be able to rescue as many if we didn't solely run on volunteers.
We need volunteers in the following areas. You can volunteer as little or as much as you like. All we ask is, if you make a time commitment that you follow through. Our dogs depend on it.
Home Checks (North America) - After an adoption application is received we need a volunteer member to meet with the potential adopters and perform a home check.
Drivers (North America) - In the Vancouver area, we need drivers to pick up/drop off dogs from adoption events, vet appointments, foster to adoptive homes, and/or long distance driving.
Anywhere outside the Vancouver area, we need drivers to participate in long distance driving legs to help get dogs out of shelters and into foster or adoptive homes which may not be available locally. Just tell us where you live and how far you can drive from your home and we'll add you to our, Call For Help!, mailing list.
Fliers (North America) - From time to time we need volunteers to fly to pick up a rescued dog. These are usually smaller breeds that can fly in-cabin with you. Airfares & fees are covered by The Penny Foundation unless otherwise donated by you.
Event Volunteers (Vancouver) - We hold adoption events at various locations, usually pet stores, and we need volunteers to help set up/take down tables and adoption materials, talk to interested parties about the organization and our dogs, accept and record donations, etc.
